OZARK - Quincy took a GLVC pair by scores of 10-2 and 5-4 over the Drury Baseball Panthers on Saturday at US Baseball Park.
Drury dropped to 9-11, 2-3 GLVC and Quincy improved to 13-3, 5-0 GLVC.
The Quincy Hawks were in control of the first game of the day from the get go, jumping on Drury starter
Kaden Helsel early. Helsel gave up five runs in the two innings before settling down to hold the visitors off the board for the next three innings before giving up two more in the sixth.
Drury found Quincy starter Riley Martin's number in the fifth inning, slowing down his timing to get two, two-out hits. The Panthers'
Ryan Kayhill and
Ethan Owens put together back-to-back base hits. Drury came back in the bottom of the sixth to put two runs on the board against Martin. Four Panthers drew walks in the frame,
Nikko Calabro drew a bases loaded walk to push the first run in while

In the second game of the GLVC doubleheader, Quincy again jumped out to an early lead. The Hawks took advantage of two Panther errors in the second inning, including a throw that landed in the Hawks dugout which scored three unearned runs.
The Hawks added a fourth run in the next half inning, but it wasn't until the bottom of the sixth that the Panthers scratched a run across. Brant Ollinger picked up a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Owens, who led off the inning with a single up the middle, then stole second and took third on a wild pitch.
Quincy answered in the seventh with a solo home run, but Drury would start their come back in the bottom of the inning.
Austin Wood picked up a RBI base hit up the middle to score
Aaron Mann, after leading off the inning with a double down the left field line. The Panthers tried to take advantage of an error by Quincy's right fielder, but Hawks reliever Sam Stevens regrouped and struck out the next two Panther batters.
In the eighth, Drury strung together a walk, two singles before Kayhill drew a bases loaded walk to cut Quincy's lead to 5-3. Wood followed with a RBI ground out to get the Panthers within one. Again a Hawks receiver shut down the Panthers batter to get out of the jam and Drury was unable to get anything going in the bottom of the ninth.
