OZARK – Southwest Baptist used a five run third inning in route to a 9-2 victory over the Drury baseball Panthers Wednesday at US Baseball Park.
Drury falls to 14-14 and Southwest Baptist improved to 10-17.
Southwest Baptist opened the games scoring with five of runs on five hits in the top of the third. Drury also scratched a run across in the bottom half of the third when
Kaden Helsel singled up the middle to score
Jackson Dierenfeldt.
Southwest Baptist extended that lead to 7-1 with runs in the fourth and fifth innings. A Helsel RBI base knock to left in the Panther fifth scored
Ethan Owens and cut the lead to 7-2. Drury could draw no closer and the Bearcats tacked a pair of runs in the ninth to make it a 9-2 final.
SBU outhit the Panthers 12-8 with three Panthers going 2-for-3 on the day, Helsel, Dierenfeldt, and
Austin Fennewald.
The Drury baseball Panthers will return to GLVC action on Saturday when they travel to Illinois-Springfield. First pitch in doubleheader action will be noon.
