ROLLA, Mo.— The Drury Panthers won their fifth straight game with a 10-4 win over Missouri S&T in Rolla on Tuesday and improved their record to 20-17 and 13-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Miners fell to 20-13 and 12-9 in the league.
The Panthers grabbed the lead in the third inning on
Clayton Engel's two-RBI single and added another run in the frame on
Collin Fraley's base-hit to center field to give Drury a 3-0 advantage.
Brandt Ollinger drove in two more runs for the Panthers on a single in the fifth inning and Drury built an 8-1 lead scoring three more times in the sixth.
Aaron Mann went 3 for 5 at the plate for the Panthers with three runs scored, a double and an RBI while Engel was 2 for 5 with three runs and two RBI's. Drury stole eight bases and collected a dozen hits in the win.
Andrew Hastings (2-0) got the win for Drury going 6.1 innings allowing eight hits, four runs, and two earned runs, with one walk and two strikeouts. Chasen Anderson (2-3) took the loss for Missouri S&T as the Miners used seven pitchers in the game.
In addition to their fifth win in a row, it was Drury's sixth win in their last seven games, and the Panthers have scored in double-digits in each of those six victories.
Drury returns home to start a three-game series against Maryville with a doubleheader on Saturday. Game one starts at noon at US Baseball Park in Ozark.
