Drury's top dozen moments of '18-19: #11- Panthers win at Southern Indiana 76-72

During the next several weeks, Drury Athletics will reveal the Drury Dozen – over favorite 12 moments from the 2018-19 sports season. The list was voted on by members of the Drury University athletics staff and others that covered DU Athletics.

The list on this countdown does not reflect the most significant moments from the year, although the magnitude of the game or event certainly played a part in our decision.

Ultimately, these were our favorite moments from the previous year and the ones that we will always associate with the 2018-19 Drury sports season.

#11 – Panthers win at Southern Indiana 76-72 on Jan. 26

One of the moments Drury fans can point to as a starting point to their second-half surge was the win at Southern Indiana on Jan. 26.

Drury entered the contest 9-10 and 3-5 in the GLVC, but there were signs that the Panthers were capable of making a charge. A week earlier, Drury dismantled Lewis, a team that would eventually win the league's regular season title, 93-54. The Panthers below .500 record was also deceiving as seven of their 10 losses were decided by a single possession, and their largest margin of defeat was a six-point setback in overtime to fourth-ranked West Texas A&M.

Still, Drury desperately needed a victory, and they found it in one of the league's toughest gyms (Southern Indiana entered that game having won 33 of their last 37 at home dating back to 2017).

It didn't look like it would be the Panthers day early as they trailed 9-0 in the game's opening moments. But Drury rallied to take the lead at halftime, 33-30, and never surrendered it in the second half.

Trailing by two in the closing seconds, the Screaming Eagles had a chance to win the game late, but Tyler Clanton took a charge stopping USI star Alex Stein's drive to the basket. Then Kamau Kinder put the game out of reach hitting two free throws with 2.3 seconds left.

12 wins in a row followed - a streak that propelled them to their second straight NCAA-II tournament appearance.
