Drury falls to Union 5-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Union Bulldogs scored on a penalty kick in the first minute of Sunday's game against Drury and rolled to a 5-1 win at Harrison Stadium/Curry Sports Complex.

Felipe Fermino was fouled in the penalty area 51 seconds into the game and converted on his penalty kick to give the Bulldogs an early advantage. Gavin Scott then scored back-to-back goals 11 minutes apart in the first half as Union took a three-goal lead at the intermission.

Firmino added another goal in the 79th minute, and the Bulldogs tacked on another score from Hunter Walker two minutes later.

Drury answered with their lone goal of the game as Mitchell Vaughn, a sophomore from O'Fallon, Missouri, scored his first of the season with an assist from Hector Marin in the 82nd minute.

The loss was the first of the year for the Panthers and dropped their record to 3-1. Union improved to 2-1.

Drury returns to action on Friday with a game at Maryville. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. in St. Louis, Missouri.
