BOLIVAR, Mo.– The Drury Panthers experienced their second heartbreaking loss of the weekend as Southwest Baptist scored a goal five minutes into overtime to defeat Drury 2-1 on Sunday in Bolivar, Missouri.
The Bearcats scored an early goal as Reagan Edwards got her team on the board in the ninth minute. The Panthers answered midway through the first half, though, on
Kayla Day's second goal of the season with an assist from
Keeley Combs.
The score stayed deadlocked through the end of regulation, but in the 94th minute, Samantha Boese found the net for the game-winner.
Day had six shots with three on goal for the Panthers.
Southwest Baptist, in their first game as a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, improved to 2-0-1 and 1-0 in the league. The Panthers, who lost 1-0 on a last-second goal at Missouri Southern on Friday, fell to 0-3-1 and 0-1 in the conference.
Drury returns to action on Friday at Maryville with a 1 p.m. game in St. Louis, Missouri.
