Drury fights off Missouri S&T for 2-1 win

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Panthers scored two early goals and hung on through heavy rain to defeat Missouri S&T 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Harrison Stadium in Springfield.

Kayla Day scored her third goal of the season in the fifth minute on an assist from Chloe Cash and Drury struck again eight minutes later when Kaley Rottinghaus found the net to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Miners pulled within one on a goal from Julia Crets in the 80th minute, but Drury hung on as goalkeeper Kaitlyn Knetzke made four saves seeing 13 Missouri S&T shots.

The win raised the Panthers record to 1-4-1 and 1-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Lady Miners fell to 1-3-1 and 1-2 in the league.
