SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury battled Northwest Missouri State to a 2-2 tie to open the 2019 season on Friday night at Harrison Stadium/Curry Sports Complex.
The Bearcats got on the board first as Manuela Gonzalez scored in the 26th minute, but the Panthers answered on a goal from
Chloe Cash late in the first half.
Drury took a 2-1 lead when
Kayla Day fired in a goal off of free-kick early in the 53
rd minute, but with 11:11 remaining in regulation, Kaitlyn Case evened the game for the Bearcats with a goal that tied the contest at 2-2.
Each team posted a pair of shots in the overtime.
The tie marks the second-straight season Drury has started the year with a draw. Last season, the Panthers opened with a 2-2 against Christian Brothers.
Drury is back at home on Sunday with a game against Newman starting at noon at Harrison Stadium/Curry Sports Complex.
