Newman gets past Panthers 2-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Newman Jets scored a goal in each half and handed the Drury Panthers a 2-0 loss on Sunday afternoon at Harrison Stadium/Curry Sports Complex in Springfield.

Newman, a team that went 12-4-3 last year, got on the board late in the first half on a goal from Kennedy Weaver. Kyla Kreemer connected in the 78th minutes to give the Jets a 2-0 advantage and put the game out of reach.

Kayla Day led Drury with two shots, and freshman goalkeeper Kaitlyn Knetzke had two saves for the Panthers.

Drury plays their first road game of the season on Friday when they travel to Joplin to take on Missouri Southern State for a 6 p.m. game.
