SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury Panthers swept Southwest Baptist 3-0 on Saturday at the O'Reilly Family Event Center to start their season 2-0.
The Panthers, who opened the season the night before with a 3-1 win over Missouri S&T, limited the Bearcats to just 13 points in the first two sets before closing out the match 25-20 in the third.
Sophomore
Chloe Rear had a triple-double for the Panthers as the Strafford native had 12 kills, 13 assists, and 11 digs.
Kayla Allison contributed 27 digs, and
Taylor Forth had four blocks for Drury.
Delanie Tipton led Southwest Baptist with five kills.
The Great Lakes Valley Conference moved women's volleyball to the spring semester due to concerns with the COVID-19 pandemic, and the league's 18-game conference schedule got underway on Friday.
The Panthers will travel to nationally ranked Rockhurst for their next game. Drury faces the Hawks, currently seventh in NCAA-II, on Friday at 7 pm in Kansas City, Missouri. The game will be Rockhurst's season opener.
