SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– It took a second overtime, but the Drury Panthers kept their Great Lakes Valley Conference record perfect with a 1-0 win over Maryville on Friday at Harrison Stadium.
Drury raised their record to 7-1 and 5-0 in the GLVC, while the Saints lost in overtime for the fourth time this year and fell to 2-6 and 1-5 in the conference.
The game was less than two minutes away from ending tied when
Andrea Camargo sent a ball near the goal where
Lindsey Lee sent it into the net with a header. The goal was Lee's first of the year and Carmaro's first assist of the season.
Panthers goalkeeper
Kaitlin Knetzke recorded her sixth shutout of the year as she made two saves while seeing eight shots.
Drury's 7-1 record now marks their best start to a season through eight games in program history, and they remain the league's only team without a conference loss or tie.
The Panthers are back on their home field Sunday when they take on Missouri S&T at noon in Harrison Stadium.
