SPRINGFIELD, Mo.–
Adem Hamdaoua had a goal and an assist as the Drury Panthers downed Southern Indiana 3-1 on Friday afternoon at Harrison Stadium in Springfield.
Drury improved to 6-4-2 and 6-1-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Screaming Eagles fell to 5-6 and 4-5 in the league.
The Panthers struck early as
Adem Hamdaoua scored on a free kick in the fifth minute, firing a shot from 35 yards away just under the crossbar for his fifth goal of the season.
Drury owned a 1-0 lead at halftime and extended their margin in the 65
th minute when Hamdaoua sent a pass up-field, and forward
Jamie O'Brien chipped the ball over Southern Indiana goalkeeper Justin Faas for his seventh goal of the year.
The Screaming Eagles threatened Drury's lead as Zach Schoenstein scored in the 76
th minute on an assist from Brian Winkler, cutting the DU advantage to 2-1.
The Panthers tacked on another goal, however, as
Mitchell Vaughn found the net in the game's final minute to put the contest out of reach.
The win gives Drury a four-game unbeaten streak as they have gone 2-0-2 since Oct. 3. The Panthers return to action on Sunday when the McKendree at 2:30 pm in Harrison Stadium.
