SPRINGFIELD, Ill.— Illinois Springfield snapped Drury's five-game winning streak with a 3-1 win over the Panthers on Friday in Springfield, Illinois.
Drury dropped to 15-9 and 6-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Prairie Stars improved to 9-13 and 5-6 in the league.
Drury owned a 21-19 lead in the opening set, but Illinois Springfield fought back to win six of the last eight points to claim a 25-23 victory. Then they cruised to a 25-13 win the second before the Panthers responded by taking the third set 25-21. The Prairie Stars closed the match with a 25-23 victory in the fourth.
Taylor Forth led Drury with 16 kills, two solo blocks and three block assists, while
Chloe Rear had 40 assists and 20 digs.
Angela Denney had 16 kills and 10 digs to lead UIS. Ryleigh Warfel also contributed 15 kills.
Drury's road trip continues on Saturday when they travel to Southern Indiana for a 3 pm match in Evansville, Ind.
