LIBERTY, Mo.— It took five sets, but Drury picked up a road win and their eighth victory in nine games as they defeated William Jewell 3-2 on Saturday in Liberty, Missouri.
The Panthers improved to 19-9 and 9-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while the Cardinals fell to 7-21 and 2-17 in the league.
Chloe Rear posted a triple-double for Drury as the junior from Strafford put up 43 assists, 15 digs and 11 kills.
Gabriela Oliveria had a game-high 16 kills, and
Juliana Squire added 21 digs.
The Panthers lost the opening set 25-22 after losing their grip on a four-point lead. Drury rebounded to take the next two sets, 25-17 and 25-20. The Cardinals forced a fifth set with a 25-18 win in the fourth. In the decisive fifth set,
Taylor Forth had three kills as the Panthers clinched the win, 15-10.
Drury returns to the road on Tuesday when they play at Rockhurst for a 7 pm game in Kansas City, Missouri.
