KANSAS CITY, Mo.— Drury and Rockhurst battled for nearly three hours on Tuesday night as the Hawks pulled out a 3-2 win at Mason-Halpin Fieldhouse in Kansas City, Missouri.
Drury dropped to 19-10 and 9-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Rockhurst went to 19-10 and 12-5 in the league.
The Panthers won the first two sets but had to go beyond 25 points in both. Drury won the opening set 29-27, then the second 26-24. The Hawks narrowly won the third 25-23, then forced a fifth set with a 25-22 win.
In the fifth, Drury trailed 7-4, but reeled off five straight points to take a 9-7 league. Rockhurst responded with their own run, however, and closed out the match with a 15-11 win in the fifth.
Gabriela Oliveria led Drury with 15 kills, while
Taylor Forth added 14 kills and seven block assists.
Chloe Rear contributed 56 assists and 20 digs, and
Juliana Squire had 35 digs.
Kenzie Hines led the Hawks with 18 kills and 16 digs. Averi Vomastic posted 17 kills, three solo blocks, and five block assists.
Drury closes the regular season this weekend with home matches on Friday and Saturday. The Panthers will host Senior Day on Friday at 7 pm against William Jewell at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
