INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Drury had two wrestlers place at the 42
nd Annual Midwest Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis on Sunday.
Brandon Borlinghaus finished fourth in the 133-pound weight class, while
Peter Kuster came in seventh at 141 pounds.
The Midwest Classic is the largest and one of the most challenging of the regular season with 44 NCAA-II teams, including 17 ranked in the top 25, and it features 67 wrestlers who are also nationally ranked.
Borlinghaus won all three of his matches on Saturday to reach the semifinals. The freshman from Kansas City lost 9-6 in the semifinals to Reese Barnhardt of Mary but advanced to the third-place match through a medical forfeit. Borlinghaus was edged by Jonathan Andreatta of Adams State 8-5 in the battle for third.
Kuster went 2-1 on Saturday and started competition on Sunday with a win by Fall in just 46 seconds over Devan Moore of Newberry in the consolation round. Kuster, a junior from Jefferson City, lost 4-1 to Christian Small from King but won his seventh-place match with a 10-1 Major Decision against Dean Noble from Western Colorado.
Drury wrestling is idle until Jan. 5, when they resume their schedule with a dual against Fontbonne hosted at Lebanon High School.
