First-place Panthers home for two matches this weekend
The Drury Panthers are alone in first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and will look to maintain their top spot in the standings with two home games this weekend.
 
Drury hosts Maryville on Friday morning at 10 am, then will face Missouri S&T on Sunday at noon at Harrison Stadium.
 
The Panthers are 6-1, 4-0 in the GLVC, winners of four straight, and are the league's only unbeaten team. The Saints enter Friday's game 2-5 and 1-4 in the GLVC, while Missouri S&T is 3-2-2 and 2-1-2 in the league.
 
Drury goalkeeper Kaitlin Knetzke enters the weekend with a 6-1 record and a league-best 0.17 goals-against-average. Elsa Gonzalez is coming off of a two-goal game against Southwest Baptist and has three goals with two assists so far this season.
 
Maryville is coming off of a 2-1 win over William Jewell on Sunday, a victory that snapped a four-game losing streak. Two of those Saints losses came in overtime, however, and four of Maryville's seven games have been decided after regulation.
 
Drury is 5-4-4 against the Saints all-time, and the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie last year. The last win of for the Panthers over Maryville came in 2017 in a 3-1 win for Drury in St. Louis. The Saints are 3-1-1 against the Panthers since 2016.
 
The Miners are coming off of a tie against Rockhurst on Sunday and are idle Friday night. Sydney Gratz leads Missouri S&T and is tied for second in the GLVC in points with 11 as she brings four goals and three assists into the weekend. 
 
Drury defeated Missouri S&T 2-0 last year in Rolla, and they lead the all-time series against the Miners 13-4-5. The Panthers have won their last two meetings with S&T and are 7-1-3 head-to-head since 2010.
 
Following Sunday's game, Drury is back on the road for a game at Missouri-St. Louis on Oct. 15 at 5 pm.
