POTEAU, Okla.– Drury traveled to Poteau, Oklahoma for their second wrestling tournament of 2022-23 as they competed in the Viking Open hosted by Carl Albert State College.
 
The Panther had six wrestlers in the competition and Connor Zimmermann won four matches to advance to the consolation semifinals at 174 pounds. The sophomore from DeSoto, Missouri opened the tournament with a Major Decision win over Gunnar Spence of Carl Albert State, 10-0. After a second round loss to Central Oklahoma's Barrett Haemkr, Zimmermann rebounded to win back-to-back consolation bracket bouts. In the fourth round of the consolation bracket, he went overtime for a 6-4 Sudden Victory win against Bryce Milster of Texas Wesleyan. Zimmermann's run came to an end with a 15-4 Major Decision loss to Justice Compton from Northeast Oklahoma. 
 
The Panthers return to action on Nov. 19 in the Lindenwood Open in St. Charles, Missouri.
