DU women remain in 1st, men's team in 3rd at GLVC swimming & diving championships

ELKHART, Ind.— The Drury women's swimming & diving team maintained their hold on first place, while the men's team stayed in third after the second day of competition at the Great Lakes Valley Conference swimming & diving championships in Elkhart, Indiana.
 
The DU women's team has 951.5 points while Indianapolis is in second with 926, and Lindenwood's 789.5 has them in third.
 
Indianapolis leads the men's competition with 772.5 points. McKendree is in third with 743 points, and the Panthers have 651 and are in third.
 
Men's Highlights
Felipe Zapata picked up a second-place finish in the 100 Butterfly swimming a time of 47.68. Graham Wells gave the Panthers a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM (3:57.29). Ean Vandergraaf finished eighth in the 200 Free with a time of 1:39.21.
 
Drury's 400 Medley Relay time came in third with a time of 3:10.22 behind Mikita Tsmyh, Davi Mauro, Zapata, and Karol Ostrowski.
 
Women's Highlights
Newcomer Rafeala Raurich, a freshman from Brazil, opened the night with a win in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 54.14. Raurich came back in the 200 Freestyle and finished second (1:50.17).
 
Bec Cross finished second in the 400 Individual Medley posting a time of 4:18.50
 
The Panthers 400 Medley Relay finished second behind Indianapolis as Laura Pareja, Claire Conover, Raurich, and Josie Bushell, combined for a time of 3:41.03.
 
 
The GLVC Championships continue tomorrow with preliminary rounds at 9 am (Central) in Elkhart, Indiana. The event concludes on Saturday.
