ST. CHARLES, Mo.– Drury wrestler Peter Kuster advanced to the NCAA-II National Championship for the third-straight season as he finished second at the Midwest SuperRegional tournament in St. Charles, Missouri, on Saturday.

Kuster was the regional runner-up, while Sam Schultz came in fourth and Brandon Borlinghaus was fifth in their respective weight classes.

Kuster, a junior from Jefferson City, competing at 141 pounds, won his quarterfinal round match 6-1 over Maryville's Taylor Jokerst, then advanced through the semi's with a 1-0 decision against Nate Kreim from Central Oklahoma. Kuster reached the finals and lost to Colby Smith of Lindenwood, 6-1. Kuster's second-place finish, though, advances him to the national championship tournament for the third-straight season.

Sam Schultz finished fourth at 149 pounds. Schultz, a freshman from Chesterfield, Missouri, won his first-round bout with a 10-4 victory over Newman's Garrett Lange. After a loss in the quarterfinals, Schultz advanced through the consolation rounds with three-straight wins, including a 3-2 win over Jaylen Otero (Ouachita Baptist), a 6-0 shutout of Garrett Deason (William Jewell) and an 8-7 victory against Jack Tangen (Lindenwood). Schultz was pinned in the third-place match by Darick Lapagila (Central Missouri).

Brandon Borlinghaus, at 133 pounds, lost his opening-round match to Andrew Parker of Kentucky Wesleyan 5-3, and then reeled off four wins in his next five matches. The freshman and Kansas City, Missouri, native won a 5-2 decision over Austin Wadlow (Maryville), then won by Fall in 1:39 over Terrell Carter-Williams (Central Missouri). Borlinghaus lost in the consolation semifinals but bounced back to win his fifth-place match pinning Andrew Parker from Kentucky Wesleyan in 6:56.

"We are extremely proud of our placers and look forward to having Peter Kuster compete to be an All-American at the NCAA DII National Championships," said Drury head coach James Reynolds. "This tournament is the toughest regional in the country and has a way of chewing up really good wrestlers and spitting them out. It doesn't get any easier, we'll just have to get better."

Kuster will compete for the Panthers at the NCAA-II National Championship on March 11-12 at the Cheifez Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
