SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—Drury distance runner Katie McCune was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Athlete of the Week in women's track & field.
 
McCune, a graduate student from Springfield, set a school record and won the 800-meter run at the Bearcat Invitational hosted by Northwest Missouri State in Maryville. McCune's time of 2:10.53 broke a personal best in the event by 13 seconds, and it is the fifth-fastest time in the 800 in Division II so far this season. She also ran a leg of Drury's distance medley relay that finished in first place at the meet. 
 
The Panthers track & field squads will split their athletes in a pair of meets next weekend as they will compete in the Tyson Invitational hosted by Arkansas in Fayetteville and the Gorilla Classic at Pittsburg State in Kansas.
