SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—Drury distance runner
Katie McCune advanced to the finals in the 800-meter run at the NCAA-II National Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, on Friday.
McCune finished third in her heat and seventh overall among 20 runners in the preliminary heats with a time of 2:09.34. Advancing the top eight will ensure her an All-American spot, making her Drury's first-ever women's indoor track All-American in program history.
Claire McCune also competed on Friday in the preliminaries of the mile. The senior from Springfield completed the event in 4:50.27 and 13
th overall and missed the qualifying cut by 1.21 seconds.
The McCune sisters were the first Drury track & field athletes to qualify and participate in the national indoor meet in nearly a decade.
Katie McCune will run in the 800-meter finals at 6:35 pm Saturday in Pittsburg, Kansas.
