ROLLA, Mo. — The Drury women's track & field team picked up points on the first day of competition at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships on Thursday in Rolla, Missouri.
Zoe Van Dijk finished fourth in the 10,000 meter run. The junior from The Netherlands completed the run in 37:08.12 and was just six seconds off of the winning team. Hannah Smrcka from Lewis won the event with a time of 37:02.01.
Other highlights from Day One of the event included men's runner
Ethan Haynes, who came in 11
th in the 10,000 meter with a time of 31:46.29.
Men's middle-distance runner
Cole Sutton qualified for the finals of the 1500 meter run as he advanced to the finals with an eighth-place finish in the semifinals. Sutton, a sophomore from O'Fallon, Missouri, posted a time of 4:00.03 and squeaked out the final spot in the finals by 0.36 seconds.
The GLVC Track & Field Championships continue on Thursday in Rolla.
