SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury and Rogers State battled to a 1-1 on Saturday at Harrison Stadium in Springfield, putting both teams at 2-1-1 on the season.
The Panthers scored first as
Nathan Logue blasted a shot in the net in the 25
th minute for his second goal of the year. Rogers State tied the game four minutes later, though, on a penalty kick. Drury goalkeeper
Tyler Frolik impeded Hillcats forward Josh Milla on the left side of the net, resulting in a foul on the Panthers goalie. Milla then converted the shot for his third goal of the year and tied the game at 1-1.
Neither team got on the board in the second half, as Drury put up seven shots in the last 45 minutes and 10 for the game, while Rogers State posted five shots in the second and 11 in the contest. Frolik made four saves for the Panthers, while Hillcats keeper Declan Vijoen made three saves in the draw.
The tie was the first of the season for both teams. The NCAA has eliminated overtime periods in the regular season this year, completing matches in 90 minutes of regulation play.
Drury enters Great Lakes Valley Conference play next week when they play their league opener on Sunday at Quincy. Kickoff is at 2:30 pm in Quincy, Ill.
