Panthers host Southwest Baptist for the Cancer Awareness Game.
The Panthers host rival Southwest Baptist on Sunday at noon at Harrison Stadium in Springfield. Drury is 9-2-1 and 6-1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Bearcats are 3-7-3 and 1-5-2 in the league.

This game is the Drury Women's Soccer Cancer Awareness Game where the players will be playing in honor of those fighting and surviving cancer. There will be shirts available to purchase at the game and all proceeds will be donated to organizations in the fight against cancer.

Drury is coming off a 1-1 week where they defeated Quincy 4-0 on the road before suffering their second loss of the season in a 1-0 loss at Illinois Springfield. Southwest Baptist went 0-1-1 last week with a 2-2 draw at Illinois Springfield, and then a 1-0 loss at Quincy.

The Panthers' offense had looked to have kicked into another gear the previous weeks, with the team scoring 11 goals in four matches. Spearheading that group are freshman forward Danielle Buker, and junior midfielder Tara Simon. Those two have earned seven points each with Buker having two goals and three assists while Simon has three goals and one assist with all three of the goals being the game-winner for the Panthers. Simon's three game-winners place her tied for the GLVC lead. Senior midfielder Ines Villanueva Casal and senior defender Andrea Camargo have six points each, while senior goalkeeper Kaitlin Knetzke continues her fantastic season as she has only allowed five goals and has kept eight shutouts.

Southwest Baptist is having its best season in six years with the most wins they have picked up since 2017. The Bearcats are led by sophomore forward Tamerra Gantt whose four goals are tied for fifth best in the GLVC, and her 10 points are tied for ninth. Senior goalkeeper Ashlynn Edison made 60 saves and has kept three shutouts. Junior forward Ashlynn Robinson and freshman midfielder Olivia Baker have been involved in three SBU goals each.

Following the rivalry game, the Panthers will host Rockhurst on Friday, October 20 at the Lake Country Soccer Complex, then have Senior Day on Sunday, October 22 against William Jewell in the last regular season home game for 2023.
