BOLIVAR, Mo. – Drury lost a hard-fought, five-set match against Southwest Baptist in Bolivar on Saturday.

Drury moves to 5-19 on the season and 2-7 in conference play. Southwest Baptist now rests at 14-11 and 3-6 in the GLVC.

The Bearcats were able to come out on top in the first set, which saw several lead changes. Both teams had momentum swings but a late Southwest Baptist rally led them to a 25-23 victory.

The Panthers struck back in the second set, Â crawling back into the game after the Bearcats reached the set point with Drury several points behind. The Panthers started a rally of their own and stole the set with a 26-24 win.

The Panthers once again found themselves down big late in the third set. The Bearcats held a commanding 22-16 lead as Drury looked to mount an improbable comeback. Several diving plays and clutch points later, the Panthers took the set 26-24. The fourth set saw Southwest Baptist dominate from start to finish, with the Bearcats pulling out a 25-8 victory. Southwest Baptist carried the momentum gained in the fourth set into the fifth, where they were able to finish the match with a 15-12 win in the last set.

Ella Rademaker of Southwest Baptist led both teams with 19 kills and
Lauren Tyler from Drury led both teams with 48 assists.

Drury will travel to Kansas City to take on the twenty fourth ranked Rockhurst Hawks next Friday. First serve will be at 6 pm and the contest will be streamed on GLVCSN.
