KANSAS CITY, Mo.– Drury took a set from 24
th ranked Rockhurst, but the Hawks got hot in the third and fourth sets to defeat the Panthers 3-1 in Kansas City on Friday.
The first set went back-and-forth but Rockhurst closed it out for a 25-22 win. Drury then evened the match with a 29-27 win in the second set, but the Hawks took the third 25-14 and won the match with a 25-16 victory in the fourth set.
Sonoma Hunter led the Panthers with 12 kills, while Kaitlyn Dean added 10.
Lauren Tyler had 39 assists and served five aces.
Madison McClain led Rockhurst with a game-high 16 kills and Terra Reberry added 14. Maureen Riley provided 24 digs.
Rockhurst improved to 20-5 and 8-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Drury went to 5-20 and 2-8 in the league.
The Panthers conclude their two-game road trip to Kansas City with a 3 p.m. game at William Jewell on Saturday.
