LEBANON, Ill.– McKendree notched two goals in the second half to defeat Drury 2-0 in Lebanon, Illinois, on Sunday.
The Panthers end the regular season 4-8-5 and 4-6-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Drury finishes in eighth place in the league standings and will advance to the GLVC Tournament next week. McKendree improved to 10-1-6 and 8-1-4 in the conference.
After a scoreless first half, McKendree's Fred Nielsen scored twice to be the difference in the game. His first came in the 53
rd minute, and he gave his team a two-goal cushion with his second of the game and third of the year in the 63
rd minute.
Drury had a 10-7 advantage in shots and put one on goal.
Mattheo Ledoux had two shots to lead the Panthers.
McKendree goalkeeper Christian Herluf made one save and got the shutout in the win.
Drury will open the GLVC Tournament on Nov. 5 in the league quarterfinals.
