DU men's team finishes 4th, women's squad 6th at SMU Invitational

DALLAS, Tex.— The Drury men's swimming & diving team finished fourth among five teams and the DU women's squad came in sixth in the seven-team meet at the Southern Methodist University Invitational after the third and final night of competition in Dallas, Texas on Saturday. Drury was the only Division II team in the meet.
 
The Panthers men's team ended the meet just five points shy of third as they compiled 741 points. SMU won with 1,160 points, while Yale was second with 809 points and Hawaii finished just ahead of the Panthers with 746.
 
The DU women's team earned 361.5 points in the meet for sixth. Miami (Fla.) won with 890 points, while SMU was second with 695.5 and Yale was third with 676.5 points.

  • Ivan Adamchuk won his third event of the meet with a first place finish in the 200 Back (1:42.19)
  • Colby Hughes came in eighth in the 1650 Free with a time of 15:41.62
  • Yuri Cabral was third in the 100 Free (43.44)
  • The Panthers were third and fourth in the 200 Breast and Joao Nogueria was third (1:56.64) and Davi Mourao was right behind him in fourth (1:56.72)
  • Alejandro Villarejo was second in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:44.45
  • Drury was fourth in the 400 Free Relay as Matteo Vissotto, Viktor Khnykin, Nogueria, and Cabral combined for a time of 2:56.18
The Drury men's team competes again on Dec. 1 when they host Missouri S&T and the Drury women's squad is back in the pool for competition on Dec. 2 for a home dual against William Jewell.
