Panthers take on McKendree in GLVC semifinals
Drury Women's Soccer will take on the McKendree Bearcats in the semifinal round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Friday at 12 pm in East Peoria, Illinois.
 
The Panthers were able to advance after defeating Illinois Springfield in penalty kicks. The game was a tightly contested battle that was scoreless at the conclusion of two overtimes. The Panthers and Prairie Stars both scored 3 of their 5 penalty kicks. In the second round of penalty kicks, Drury was able to close the door and advance to the next round of the GLVC Tournament.  

Drury finished the regular season with a record of 12-3-2 and a conference record of 9-2-2. It was the first time since the 2021 season that the Panthers have won 12 regular season games.The Bearcats come into Friday's contest with a record of 14-1-3 and a record of 9-1-3 in conference play. Drury has had a slight edge in the all-time series against the Bearcats, with a record of 8-6-2. These two teams squared off earlier this season, with McKendree taking a 2-1 victory over the Panthers in Lebanon, Illinois. The Panthers outshot McKendree by a line of 17-8, but it was the Bearcats who were able to score the second goal and win the game. Mel Schneider scored the lone goal for the Panthers, coming from an assist by Kourtney Tucker.

Heading into Friday's contest, Kaitlin Knetzke is second in the nation in shutouts with (13) and leads the GLVC in goals against average at (0.38). Kourtney Tucker leads the Panthers with 5 goals and 3 assists on the season. The Panthers have scored 28 goals and have surrendered 7 on the season.
 
The other semifinal matchup on Friday will be (1) Maryville vs. (4) Lewis. The winners of Friday's games will face off in the GLVC Championship game on Sunday. Kickoff for Drury will be at 12 pm on Friday and will be streamed live on GLVCSN.
