SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Lady Panthers are ranked 18
th in this week's NCAA-II coaches' poll.
Drury is 8-2 this season and was idle last week. The Lady Panthers game on Tuesday against Missouri Southern was postponed as illnesses and injuries left the team with not enough players to field a team. That game would not have factored in this week's poll as voting was completed last Sunday night.
There is a new number one ranked team in Division II women's basketball for the first time this season. Grand Valley State (8-1), whose only loss this season came against Ohio State, received 16 first place votes and moved up to number one. Ashland (8-1) lost at home on Saturday against sixth ranked Ferris State, 66-62, slipped to number two in the poll while receiving three first place votes. Gannon (10-1) received two first place votes and is ranked third.
The Lady Panthers are the only team in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the top 25. Four teams from the Midwest Region are nationally ranked with Grand Valley State number one, Ashland second, Ferris State sixth, and Drury 18
th.
Drury's next scheduled game is Jan. 3, when they travel to Illinois Springfield for a 5:30 pm tipoff.
