ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Drury Panthers finished in ninth place at the UMSL Invitational at the Norwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri, on Monday. Drury finished 117-over-par in the 15-team field and was seven shots back of Davenport and Maryville for seventh. Grand Valley State won the tournament at 58-over-par, while Ferris State was 12 shots off the lead in second, and Illinois Wesleyan finished third at 76-over-par.
The Panthers were led by
Shehna Akbary, who was tied for 13
th place at 18-over-par. The junior from Toronto, Ont., shot a five-over-par 76 in the final round after posting an 80 and 75 earlier in the tournament.
Carmen Fletcher finished tied for 31st at 32-over-par and Isabelle Thrall finished tied for 35th, shooting 33-over-par. Grace Stafford finished tied for 46th, shooting 39-over-par, while Abby Howard rounded out the scorers for Drury, placing 64th at 49-over-par.
Olivia Stoll from Grand Valley State won the tournament after shooting a six-over-par, four shots better than second-place Tove Brunell from Missouri-St. Louis.
Drury will have an off week to prepare for post-season play at the GLVC Championships at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Missouri, from April 21-23.
