ST. LOUIS, Mo.– The Drury Panthers opened the season with a 2-0 loss to Washburn at the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex in St. Louis on Friday. Drury fell to 0-1 while the Ichabods went to 1-0.
Neither team scored in the first half, but Washburn got on the board one minute into the second half as Khloe Schuckman split two defenders and sent a ball into the net to give the Ichabods a 1-0 lead. Washburn sealed the win with their second goal with just eight minutes remaining. Viviana Soto-Herrera fired a shot in with an assist from Schuckman to put the game out of reach.
The Ichabods had a 17-10 shot advantage and put nine shots on goal.
Drury continues their season-opening trip to St. Louis when they play Northwest Missouri State on Sunday at noon at the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex.
