SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury women's golf team finished 17th at the Payne Stewart Memorial Tournament hosted by Missouri State at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield on Tuesday.
It was the opening tournament of the fall season for the Panthers. Drury opened day one with a team score of 321, followed by a score of 326 in day two. The Panthers shot their best round of the tournament with a score of 317 in Tuesday's final round, finishing with a total score of 964.
Oral Roberts outlasted Austin Peay State to take home the win, shooting a team score of 868. California Baptist shot a 294 in the final round to take third.
Jade Carter was the highest finisher for Drury, shooting 19 over-par for the three round tournament. Carter shot five-over-par rounds of 77 in both round one and two, ending with an 81 on the final day.
Taryn Overstreet shot the low round for the Panthers on Tuesday, firing a 78 that included an amazing escape from under the trees on hole three.
Isabelle Thrall and
Reagan Martin both turned in cards of 79 in the final round, and
Abby Howard finished with an 82 to round out the Drury team score.
Drury was one of only two non-NCAA Division I programs in the tournament field. Sofia Chabon from California Baptist won the individual title shooting an eight-under-par 208 in the tournament.
The Panthers move to their home course next week when they host the Drury Invitational at Silo Ridge Golf & Country Club in Bolivar on Sept. 18-19.
