Panthers look to extend unbeaten run against Upper Iowa and Truman St.
The Panthers are home this weekend with two matches against Upper Iowa and Truman State. Drury faces off against the Peacocks on Friday at 5 p.m., then take on the Bulldogs on Sunday at Harrison Stadium, where the kickoff will be at noon.
Â
Drury is coming off a 1-0-1 week where they defeated Maryville 1-0 on the road before being held scoreless in a 0-0 draw at Missouri S&T. Upper Iowa enters this match on a two-game losing streak, being outscored 5-0 last week. The Peacocks are 1-5-1 on the season so far and have yet to pick up their first GLVC win. Truman State is currently the second hottest team in the GLVC, behind Drury, having gone unbeaten in six straight and are 3-0-1 in their last four contests. The Bulldogs defeated Quincy 3-0 and Illinois Springfield 1-0 last week. Truman State will face Southwest Baptist on Friday before facing off with the Panthers on Sunday.
Â
The Panthers' defense has been the driving force this season. The Drury backline and senior goalkeeper
Kaitlin Knetzke have set a program record in shutouts with six straight. Knetzke has only allowed three goals and has made 14 saves so far. Senior defender
Andrea Camargo leads the Panthers in goals and points with three goals and six points. Junior midfielder
Tara Simon is second on the team with two goals and one assist for five points, and her 27 shots are tied for second in the GLVC. Freshman forward
Danielle Buker and senior midfielder
Ines Villanueva Casal both have one goal and one assist each, and sophomore midfielder
Elena Perez has two assists.
Â
Upper Iowa has been team starving for goals with sophomore forward Rachyl Benavides and freshman forward Haylie Hutchinson the only Peacocks with more than one goal involvement. Sophomore Isabelle Wagner has been the main shot-stopper, playing in all seven of the Peacocks' games, allowing 12 goals already this season. This will be the second time that these two teams have met, with the first being in 2007.
Â
Truman State is led by the current GLVC Defensive and National Player of the Week, Tatumn Damron. The junior goalkeeper, in eight games, has made 52 saves and has allowed only seven goals. The Bulldogs offensively are paced by junior midfielder Emma Thompson, whose seven points place her tied for ninth in the conference. Midfielders Gianna Gorman and Olivia Morris are behind Thompson with four points each.

Following the two games, the Panthers will cross over the Mississippi River for a two-game road trip against Quincy on Friday, October 6
th, and then Illinois Springfield on Sunday, October 8
