SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury became the first team in the Great Lakes Valley Conference to take a point from Indianapolis this season as they battled the Greyhounds to a 2-2 tie at Harrison Stadium in Springfield on Friday night.
The Panthers moved their record to 3-2-4 and 1-2-3 in the GLVC. Indianapolis, who entered Friday's game in first place in the conference standings, had their five-game winning streak snapped as they went to 5-2-1 and 5-0-1 in the league.
Drury struck early as
Carson Morgan gave the Panthers the lead in the game's fifth minute. Morgan scored off a corner kick and
Joe Loughnane picked up his fourth assist of the year.
Indianapolis tied the game in the 28
th minute as August Abrahamsen evened the game with his second goal of the season.
The Panthers took the lead back with five seconds left in the first half. Drury quickly got in position for a corner kick and Morgan scored his second goal of the game and fourth of the year on an assist from
Jude Rodwell.
Drury hung on to the lead until the 78
th minute as Lucas Bedleg fired a shot from the top of the penalty area to the right corner of the net for his third goal of the year, tying the game at 2-2.
Indianapolis had the advantage in shots, 18-10. Panthers goalkeeper
Camden Meyer (3-2-4) made six saves in the draw. Ionas Giovanidis (5-0-1) got his first tie in goal for UIndy and the two goals allowed were the most he has given up in a game this season.
Drury returns to the field on Sunday when they host Illinois Springfield at 2:30 pm at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex.
