Panthers shut out Illinois Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury got a second-half from Bella Hernandez and hung on for a 1-0 win over Illinois Springfield at Harrison Stadium in Springfield on Sunday afternoon.

The win lifted the Panthers record to 8-1-2 and 6-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Prairie Stars dropped to 4-3-3 and 4-2-1 in the GLVC.

Hernandez broke through for the game's only goal as she put home a rebound from a shot by Tara Simon in the 54th minute. The goal was her first of the season and the second assist of the year from Simon.

Katy Fitzler (8-1-1) and the Drury defense closed the door on Illinois Springfield for the Panthers' seventh shutout of the year. Fitzler had four saves as Illinois Springfield put up seven shots. Drury had the advantage in shots, 14-7, and had five on goal. Hernandez had three shots in the game, with two placed on-net.
