SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Drury Panthers clinched a berth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 1-0 win over Southwest Baptist at Harrison Stadium in Springfield on Sunday.
The Panthers won their third straight and finished the regular season 8-5-4 and 6-5-3 in the GLVC. Southwest Baptist ended their season 2-13-3 and 1-12-1 in the conference.
Abdullah Iqbal scored the game's only goal as the freshman from Urbandale, Iowa, fired in his fourth goal of the season in the 30
th minute while
Lui Bull picked up the assist.
Drury's defense closed the door after that, as the Panthers outshot Southwest Baptist 18-3 and did not allow a shot on goal in the game.
Joe Loughnane had four shots to lead Drury as the Panthers registered their second straight shutout.
Drury tied for fifth in the GLVC regular season and will play on the road in the conference tournament quarterfinals on Nov. 10. The league will announce the bracket and postseason schedule later Sunday night.
