Drury hosts Indianapolis in the first round of the GLVC postseason
The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) playoffs come to Springfield for the GLVC Quarterfinals against Indianapolis.
Â
The Panthers will host Indianapolis for the second time this season. That first matchup was on October 4 with a 1-0 win for the Panthers. The lone goal came from
Kourtney Tucker assisted by
Tara Simon in the 21
st minute. The Greyhounds recorded only one shot the entire game with Drury having 20. The one shot from Indy came from Stephanie Brady.
Â
Drury clinched the second seed in the conference postseason after Maryville won the conference regular season last Friday. The Panthers are led offensively by
Holland Hawkins with 20 points. Hawkins picked up her first goal in five games against Southwest Baptist. Drury put six goals in that game against SBU, that is as many as they had put up combined in the last five games. This is the fourth season in a row that Drury has made the league playoffs, in the three previous seasons, Drury is 2-1 in the quarterfinals.
Â
Indianapolis has made the playoffs as a seven seed. The Greyhounds are 1-4 in their last five games. Those four losses did come against teams that finished ranked higher than them in the GLVC. Over those last five games, Indy has only scored one goal, that came on the last day of the regular season against Lewis in their 1-0 win. Mia Winters scored the goal assisted by Nicole Shroeder. The Greyhounds have not won a GLVC postseason game since 2021, when they beat Truman State in overtime and then lost to Southern Indiana in overtime in the semifinals.
Â
The winner of this game plays the winner of the Illinois Springfield and McKendree in the GLVC semifinals at Creve Coeur Park in St. Louis on Thursday.
