SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Both Drury swim teams posted first places at the Drury Invitational on Saturday at the Breech Pool in Springfield. The DU men's team, ranked first in NCAA-II, won the two-day, three-team event with 1,401 points. Rockhurst was second with 722 points and Quincy was third with 657. The Drury women's squad won their side of the event with 1,248 points, while Rockhurst was second with 736, and Quincy was third with 714 points.
Women's Highlights
- Drury started day two of the event with a win in the 200 Medley Relay. Nikol Maniko, Clarie Conover, Mellie Wijk, and Ashlyn Moore combined for a time of 1:43.51
- Maria Munoz took the 400 IM with a time of 4:25.63, and retuned in the evening session to win the 200 Fly (2:02.12)
- Mellie Wijk was first in the 100 Fly, posting a time of 54.91
- Ashyln Moore won the 200 Free (1:55.47)
- Jonette Laegreid picked up a win in the 100 Breast (1:00.43), and took first in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:11.26
- Lexie Waller earned another Drury win with a first place finish in the 100 Back with a time of 57.05, and she took first in the 200 Back (2:00.88)
- The Drury women's team ended the morning session with a win in the 800 Free Relay as Mellie Wijk, Yevheniia Zhukova, Nikol Maniko, and Jonette Laegreid completed the event in 7:42.61
- Gwen Bergum started the second session with a win in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:24.36
- Ellie Walker won the 100 Free (51.86)
- The Panthers capped the meet with a win in the 400 Free Relay as Bergum, Laegreid, Maniko, and Letticia Nunes teamed up for a winning time of 3:29.33
Men's Highlights
- The Drury men's squad started the morning with a win in the 200 Medley Relay as Maximillian Hagl, Davi Mourao, Aidan Scott, and Yuri Cabral won with a time of 1:29.99
- Matteo Vissotto won the 200 Free as he got to the wall in 1:38.79
- Davi Mourao, a two-time defending national champion, won the 100 Breast with a time of 55.00
- Ivan Adamchuk put up a time of 48.07 in the 100 Back to win that event, and returned in the evening to win the 200 Back (1:45.53)
- Matheus Siniscalchi started the evening session with a win for Drury in the 1000 Free (9:25.16)
- Lucas Mineur got a win in 100 Free with a time of 44.50
- The Panthers got another win from Colby Hughes, who won the 200 Fly (1:51.11)
- Drury completed the meet with a win from their top 400 Free Relay team as Mineur, Marwane Sebbata, Alejandro Villarejo, and Josue Hernandez took the event with a time of 3:00.77
Both Drury teams return to the competition pool Nov. 21-23 at the Southern Methodist Invitational in Dallas, Texas.
