ROLLA, Mo.— The Missouri S&T Miners outlasted the Drury Panthers 90-72 on Thursday night at Gibson Arena in Rolla.
The first half saw the Panthers and Miners exchange the lead seven times, ending with a 36-35 advantage for Missouri S&T heading into halftime.
The difference in the game came late in the second half, with Missouri S&T breaking off a 27-7 run to take a double-digit lead. The Miners relied on senior forward Ikenna Okekeof, who scored 16 points in the second half.
Drury senior Riley Naegar led the Panthers with 14 points on 6 of 6 shooting from the field. The Drury guard combo of
Logan Applegate and
Quenton Shelton each had 11 points.
Okekeo led both teams with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Julien Smith added 16 and Andrew Young had 14 points.
The Panthers now rest at 13-12 and have a record of 6-11 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Miners move to 13-11 and 7-10 in the GLVC.
Drury will travel to Maryville on Saturday for their next game to take on the Saints at 3 pm.
