MARYVILLE, Mo.— Drury's
Ethan Haynes set a team record in the men's 5000 meter run and the Panthers had eight top 10 finishes at the Bearcat Invitational hosted by Northwest Missouri State on Friday at Saturday in Maryville, Missouri.
Men's Highlights
- Ethan Haynes set a program record in the 5000 meter run and finished third in a 49-runner field with a time of 14:58.24. The sophomore from Republic became the first Drury runner in team history to break 15 minutes in the event as he broke Ryan Way's mark that had stood since 2018. Tyler Harris, a freshman from Springfield-Kickapoo, was fourth in the event and his time of 15:02.34 would have also set a team record and is now the second-fastest time ever for a Drury runner.
- Harris was also sixth in the mile among 51 runners and posted a time of 4:19.10. His time was also the sixth-best in team history. Trent Patterson finished 11th in that event with a time of 4:25.04
- Drury's Distance Medley Relay team was fourth as Nolan Moeller, Drew Robinson, Kyle Keltner and Cole Sutton combined for a time of 10:15.03, the third-best mark in Drury history
Women's Highlights
- Zoe Van Dijk, a senior from The Netherlands, gave the Panthers a fourth place finish in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:22.94. Mia Harris was 10th in the event (19:37.79).
- Ashley Childers came in eighth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.19.
- Ashley Sexton was 10th in a field of 34 in the mile as the freshman from Fayetteville, Arkansas, had a time of 5:26.37.
The Panthers compete again on Feb. 10 in the Ichabod Invitational, hosted by Washburn in Topeka, Kansas.
