PEUBLO, Colo.— It was the second consecutive year Drury junior
Nolan Moeller competed in the 800 meter run at the NCAA-II National Championships, but this time his push to the finals was stopped in the preliminary heats as the Ozark, Missouri native finished seventh in Heat 2 on Friday night in Pueblo, Colorado.

Moeller completed the race in 1:53.04 and was 21
st overall. He worked his way through a pack of runners after the first 200 meters and surged into second at the midway mark of the race with a 400-meter split of 53.29. The lead runner, Jose Le Cadre from Indianapolis, then held off a group of five runners that displaced Moeller in the last 150 meters.

The last qualifying mark was Zion Murry from Claffin with a time of 1:49.45, while Johan Correa from Central Washington advanced to Saturday's finals with a top mark of 1:48.81 in the preliminary heats.

Moeller was competing in his second-straight NCAA-II National meet and is the first Drury runner to qualify for the national championship in the 800 meter run. Last year, he reached the finals and finished seventh to gain All-America honors.

Moeller finished second at the Great Lakes Valley Conference championships in the event and set Drury's record in the event earlier this year, breaking a mark he previously held with a time of 1:48.79.

Drury track & field head coach
Luke Karamitros completed his second year guiding Drury's outdoor track & field program.
