KANSAS CITY, Mo.— The Drury Lady Panthers started their road trip to Kansas City with an 85-67 win at Rockhurst on Thursday night. It was the first home loss of the season for the Hawks.
After falling behind Rockhurst by four points in the first quarter, the Lady Panthers found another gear offensively and went into halftime only down 35-32.

Drury kicked things into an even higher gear to start the second half, outscoring Rockhurst 24-15 in the third period, and coasted home in the fourth quarter. The Lady Panthers now rest at 17-4 overall, and are 12-3 against the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

"We were struggling a bit offensively in the first half, but our coaches gave us some adjustments and we came out strong in the third quarter," said Drury forward
Reese Schaaf. "When Makaiya and Caitlynn hit those threes, you could feel the momentum shift and we were able to capitalize on the opportunities they gave us."

Caitlynn Daniels and
Reese Schaaf led the Drury offensive attack, combining for 50 points in the contest. Daniels finished with 25 points, while adding 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Schaaf ended with 25 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with 4 steals. Drury's defense held the Hawks to 33 percent shooting from the field and created 9 turnovers.

Rockhurst was led in scoring by Macie Conway, who had 19 points and 5 rebounds. The Hawks dropped to 11-9 (8-8) with the defeat. Rockhurst had been unbeatable at home this season, with an impressive 10-0 record until tonight's loss.

"We knew that we were going to get their best game," said Drury point guard,
Caitlynn Daniels. "Our coaches reassured us to keep playing team basketball, which has been a strength of our team, and it helped us tonight in a tough road environment."

The Lady Panthers will continue their road trip, when they travel to William Jewell on Saturday. Tip off will be at 1 pm at the Mabee Center in Liberty.
