GENEVA, Ohio— The Drury women's swimming & diving finished third in the 800 Free Relay, while the men's squad was fourth in the same event on the first day of the NCAA-II National Championships at the SPIRE Institute Aquatic Center in Geneva, Ohio, on Tuesday.
Ellie Walker,
Ashlyn Moore,
Mellie Wijk, and
Josie Bushell combined for a time of 7:15.55. The Panthers finished just 0.01 seconds behind Colorado Mesa for second. Nova Southeastern won the event and set a NCAA-II record with a time of 7:08.50.
Drury's men's squad featured
Ivan Adamchuk,
Matteo Vissotto, Joao Noguiera, and
Yuri Cabral and finished with a time of 6:24.27. Tampa won the event with a time of 6:20.78, while McKendree was second (6:24.12) and Nova Southeastern was third (6:24.43).
The 800 Free Relay was the only event on Tuesday. The first full day of competition is on Wednesday and starts with the preliminary heats of the women's 200 Individual Medley at 9 am (CT) in Geneva, Ohio.
