PITTSBURG, Kan.— Drury's men's and women's track & field teams combined for 10 top three finishes at the Pittsburg State Tune-Up Meet in Pittsburg, Kansas, on Saturday. The Panthers won two events as
Cole Sutton took first in the men's 1500 meter run, and Drew Robinson won the men's 400 meter hurdles.
Men's Highlights
- Cole Sutton won the 1500 meter run, and the Panthers finished 1-2-3-5 and 7 in a field of 45 runners. Sutton posted a winning time of 3:50.93, the second-best time in program history. Colby Garner was second (3:52.52), William Kershaw was third (3:55.94), and Kyle Keltner came in fifth (3:58.71). Trent Patterson crossed the line in seventh place (4:03.30).
- Drew Robison posted a win in the 400 meter hurdles as the sophomore from Maplewood, Missouri, completed the event in 58.23
- Mason St. Clair was second in the triple jump, and the freshman from Springfield-Glendale had a jump of 13.13 meters, the third-best mark in program history
- William Kershaw was second in the 800 meter run (1:55.18)
- Nolan Moeller finished seventh in the 400 meter run with a time of 50.37
Women's Highlights
- Ashley Childers finished second in two events. The senior from Ozark set a program record in the 100 meter dash and set an NCAA-II championship qualifying time of 11.76. She was also the runner-up in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.04
- The Panthers had a 2-3 finish in the 1500 meter run. Zoe Van Dijk was second in a field of 37 with a time of 4:44.16. Luz Olivera was third (4:53.86), and Alexis Workman came in ninth (5:00.21)
- Ashley Sexton was seventh among 25 runners in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:27.97
Drury's track & field teams compete again next week in the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
