COAL VALLEY, Ill.— Missouri-St. Louis knocked Drury out of the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship with a 3-1-1 win over the Panthers in the semifinals of Medal Match play on Sunday at the par-71 Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Illinois.
Drury advanced to the four-team Medal Match play tournament after finishing third in the 54-hole stroke play portion of the tournament. Missouri-St. Louis was the number two seed after their second place finish on Saturday.
In the best-of-five Medal Match play round, the Panthers got a win from
Grace Stafford, who defeated Momo Kikuchi by two shots.
Taryn Overstreet tied Victoria Klausner as both finished with a seven-over-par 78. The Tritons won the other three match-ups, with two of the three decided by two strokes or less. UMSL's Wilma Zanderau held off
Isabelle Thrall as she won the last three holes by three shots to win her round by two strokes. Ebba Wernered won the 18
th hole by one shot over Drury's
Reagan Martin to win the round by one stroke and clinch the point. Martin shot 80 (+9) in the round, while Wernered picked up a +8, 79 to get the clinching point.
Drury's semifinal appearance marked the third year in a row the Panthers advanced to Medal Match play at the GLVC Championship. The Panthers' third-place finish was the program's best placement at the GLVC Championship since 2014.
