SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Seven members of the Drury track & field and cross country teams, including four men's student-athletes and three women's student-athletes, were named Academic All-District performers by the College Sports Communicators.
Cole Sutton,
Ethan Haynes,
Colby Garner, and
Will Kershaw from the Drury men's squad were honored with the award, while
Jolie McClellan,
Ashley Childers, and
Zoe Van Dijk were named from the women's team.
The honorees were selected for their combined performance in track & field and in the classroom.
Jolie McClellan qualified for the NCAA-II National Championship meet in the javelin. The senior from Raymore, Missouri, finished 14
th nationally in the event and was a Psychology major at Drury.
Ashley Childers posted provisional qualifying times to the national championships in two events: the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash. The Ozark, Missouri, product and senior was an Elementary Education major and owns the program record at Drury in both events.
Zoe Van Dijk finished fourth at the GLVC Championships in the 5,000 meter run and the 10,000 meter run. A native of The Netherlands, the senior was an Architecture major at Drury.
Cole Sutton, a junior from O'Fallon, Missouri, was the Runner-Up at the GLVC Championship meet in the 1500 meter run. Sutton won the 1500 meter run in two events during the season and is an Architecture major.
Ethan Haynes came in third in the 10,000 meter run at the GLVC Championships and finished 15
th overall at the league cross country championships. The sophomore from Republic, Missouri, is a Business and Economics major.
Colby Garner was eighth in the 1500 meter run at the GLVC Championship. The junior from Springfield-Kickapoo is a Physics major.
Will Kershaw finished eighth at the GLVC Championships in the 1500 meter run, and the Nixa, Missouri, native was 31
st overall at the league's cross country championship. The Secondary Education and History major completed his junior season.
Drury track & field completed their first season under head coach Luke Karamitros in 2024 and sent two student-athletes to the NCAA-II National Championships last month.
