SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury got a second half goal to tie Missouri S&T 1-1 on Sunday at Harrison Stadium in Springfield. The Panthers went to 3-1-2 and 1-1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Miners sent their record to 4-1-1 and 1-0-1 in the league.
Missouri S&T got on the board in the first half on a goal from Mustafa Hasan in the sixth minute. Hasan was stopped on a penalty kick but got to the rebound and put his second shot into the net.
Drury picked up their pace in the second half with 12 of their 19 shots coming in the second half. Drury broke through in the 71
st minute as Abullah Iqubal scored his first goal of the season and
Jude Rodwell earned the assist as the Panthers evened the game at 1-1.
Drury had a chance late on a
Rian Mulherin shot that was saved by S&T goalkeeper Cavitt Bruhn with three minutes remaining.
The Miners had put up a flurry in the final minute as Jimmy Sanchez fired a shot on an empty net, but Drury defenders blocked the try for a team save. Panthers goalie
Camden Meyer then stopped a shot in the final seconds to keep the game tied.
Drury returns to the field on Friday when they travel to McKendree to take on the seventh-ranked Bearcats at 7:30 pm in Lebanon, Illinois.
