BOLIVAR, Mo.– The Drury men's cross country started the 2024 season with a first place finish at the Bearcat Classic, hosted by Southwest Baptist at the Bolivar Municipal Golf Course in Bolivar, Missouri on Friday.
The Panthers won the 10-team event that featured 151 runners by four points over Missouri S&T. Drury placed two runners in the top 10 and their top five runners were all in the top 20 as they posted a total of 58 points, edging the Miners total of 62. Central Missouri finished third with 68 points.
Sophomore
Tyler Harris came in third overall and the Springfield-Kickapoo product completed the 4-mile run in 19:52.30.
Ethan Haynes, a junior out of Republic, was ninth with a time of 20:36.38.
Kyle Keltner came in 11
th (20:40.14), and
Colby Garner was 15
th (20:59.76) for Drury.
Thomas Shuster rounded out Drury's top five as he finished 20
th and completed the event in 21:04.61.
Henry Born from Missouri S&T won the individual title with a time of 19:29.95.
Drury cross country competes again on Sept. 13 in the Springfield Twilight held at the Betty and Bobby Allison Sports Complex.
